Celebrating 25 Years of The Sims: Take the Nerd Quiz

In February 2025, Electronic Arts commemorates the 25th anniversary of the iconic life simulation game, The Sims, originally released on February 4, 2000. Developed by Maxis, the game revolutionized the gaming landscape by allowing players to create and control virtual households, marking a significant shift from the previously established SimCity franchise.

The Sims quickly gained popularity, selling over 200 million copies across its four main installments and numerous expansion packs, solidifying its status as one of the best-selling video game series of all time. However, the franchise has also faced criticism for its monetization strategies, particularly in The Sims 4, where acquiring all downloadable content can cost players several hundred euros.
