A serious incident unfolded in Berlin's Gesundbrunnen district when a 17-year-old driver, attempting to escape a police check, injured eight individuals, including a pedestrian who sustained life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday evening, the young driver, accompanied by three passengers aged 16 to 19, was operating a car-sharing vehicle when the police initiated a traffic control. Instead of complying, the driver reversed the vehicle, inadvertently injuring a police officer in the process. Following this, he drove into a group of pedestrians before crashing into a building on Brunnenstraße, pinning a 25-year-old woman beneath the vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, activating a mass casualty alert due to the extent of injuries sustained. A total of 60 firefighters and paramedics arrived on the scene with 22 emergency vehicles to provide assistance. The critically injured pedestrian received immediate first aid from both police officers and bystanders before being transported to the hospital.

The driver was apprehended at the scene and police confirmed he does not hold a valid driver's license. His passengers were also temporarily detained as part of the investigation. Authorities have stated that charges are likely to be filed against the young driver for multiple traffic offenses and for causing grievous bodily harm.

The incident raises concerns regarding young, unlicensed drivers on the road and the potential risks posed not only to themselves but also to the general public. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to traffic laws to prevent such dangerous situations in the future.
