Suspected Bomb Maker Arrested in Berlin

Authorities in Berlin have apprehended a man suspected of constructing explosive devices. The arrest took place on Sunday, following an investigation into an incident that occurred last October in Neukölln, where the suspect allegedly abandoned a homemade explosive during a police check.

According to reports, the incident drew significant attention when the individual fled from federal police at the Neukölln S-Bahn station, leaving behind a bag containing a self-made bomb. This device was identified as containing 530 grams of TATP (Triaceton-Triperoxide), a highly volatile explosive. Due to its instability, law enforcement officials opted to detonate the device in a nearby park, resulting in a loud explosion that resonated across a large portion of the city, narrowly averting a potential disaster.

In the aftermath of the incident, police launched a manhunt for two suspects, both of whom had prior criminal records related to explosive offenses. In November 2024, the investigation took a tragic turn when one of the wanted individuals, a 34-year-old man from Poland, died in an explosion linked to another homemade device in Niedersachsen.

After an intensive search for the remaining suspect, investigators from the Berlin State Criminal Police managed to locate and arrest him on Sunday. The authorities are continuing their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the case and the individual's possible connections to other criminal activities involving explosives.

The successful apprehension of the suspect underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address threats posed by homemade explosives and to enhance public safety in urban areas. The police remain vigilant as they investigate the broader implications of this case and work to prevent future incidents involving similar threats.
