Munich - The Munich Airport Center (MAC) will be present again this year with their surfing facility at the Munich Airport. The campaign called "Surf & Style powered by Lufthansa" will run from 1 to 21 August. People will have the ability to surf between the runways. In an approximately 180-square-foot pool with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters a "standing wave" will be generated. The highlight of this event will be the second European Championship of "Surfing on a standing wave" from 10th to 12th August. On Friday, 10th of August, one can watch the athletes in training. On the next day there will be qaulifying hits, followed by the finals on Sunday, 12th of August. The winner will receive a prize of 10,000 Euros.
On Sunday, 19th of August, the surf stars will get a chance to show their skill at the so-called Rookie Contest. During the three weeks of this event, there will be surf camps for children and the youth.
In addition to the waveriding facility, there will be a spectator stand and a beach area with palm trees, deck chairs and a cocktail bar. Equipment can be borrowed free of charge on site.
The event will be open daily from 10 clock. For both for surfing and entry, there is no charge.
