Stefanie Kahl Celebrates Milestone 110th Birthday: A Testament to Longevity

Tue 29th Apr, 2025

Michelstadt, Germany - Today marks a remarkable milestone as Stefanie Kahl celebrates her 110th birthday, having been born in the same year as iconic figures such as Édith Piaf and Frank Sinatra. This significant anniversary highlights not only her longevity but also the wisdom she has garnered over a century of life experiences.

Despite reaching such an extraordinary age, Kahl remains humble about her achievement, expressing that she does not consider herself particularly special for living longer than others. "I just happen to live a bit longer than the rest," she remarked with a modest tone.

Sipping coffee with milk and no sugar, Kahl, affectionately known as Steffi, shares her secrets to a long life. She attributes her longevity to fresh air and an active lifestyle, having never owned a car and enjoying long walks in her younger years. She fondly recalls her love for buttered bread, which she believed was good for her nerves, and admits that she only feels old when the weather is dreary.

Born in Breddin, Brandenburg, in 1915, Kahl has witnessed significant historical events, including both World Wars and the reign of the last German Kaiser. From a young age, she developed a passion for art, eventually studying at the prestigious Art Academy in Berlin. In 1960, she moved to Frankfurt with her late husband, Albert, where they raised three children. Today, she is a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.

Reflecting on her life, Kahl emphasizes the importance of friendship, advising younger generations to maintain strong connections with friends who can provide support when needed. She also reminisces about her travels with her husband, particularly their trips to Morocco in a large camping bus, cherishing the freedom those experiences afforded her.

Adapting to life in a care home after her husband's passing has been a challenge for Kahl, who values her independence and the ability to make her own choices. "Here, there are rules, and I am told when to put on my shoes, which can be a bit bothersome," she remarked.

On her birthday, she expressed her wishes for practical gifts, including a pair of comfortable shoes and a new clock for her bedside. While she appreciates the longevity of her life, Kahl does not aspire to reach 120, feeling fulfilled with the experiences she has had.

As she celebrates her birthday today, her family has arranged for cake, and the local mayor is expected to pay a visit, adding to the festive atmosphere of the day. Kahl acknowledges the day will unfold whether she is particularly enthusiastic about it or not, demonstrating her pragmatic approach to life.

Wishing her a very happy birthday, the community honors Stefanie Kahl and her impressive journey through a century filled with art, family, and cherished memories.
