Spring's Arrival: Weather Service Indicates a Second Chance for Spring

Sat 1st Mar, 2025

As meteorological spring begins, many regions in Germany can look forward to pleasant and dry weather, particularly in areas celebrating Carnival. However, those in the northern parts will need to exercise a bit of patience.

According to the German Weather Service, with the onset of meteorological spring, the weather across the country is expected to brighten up. The service suggests that spring is making a second attempt to establish itself. While the southern and central regions will enjoy sunny skies, the northern and eastern areas may still experience some cloud cover and isolated drizzle.

On Sunday, the forecast predicts temperatures ranging from five degrees Celsius in Rügen to eleven degrees along the Rhine. As Carnival festivities continue, celebrants can expect dry and sunny conditions on Rosenmontag, with temperatures predicted to fall between six and fourteen degrees nationwide.

However, the outlook is not as spring-like for the northern regions. A high-pressure system positioned over the British Isles, combined with a frontal zone extending into Schleswig-Holstein, will lead to increased cloudiness in the north and northeast through midweek. Although some light sprinkles may occur, significant precipitation is not anticipated in these areas.

Overall, the arrival of spring is marked by a shift towards more favorable weather conditions across much of Germany, providing a welcome respite from the winter chill.
