Fatal Collision: Skoda Driver (65) Crashes into Jaguar in Sachsen

Naundorf, Sachsen - A tragic accident occurred on the morning of Saturday, just one day before Easter, on the B 169 highway from Naundorf towards Riesa. A 65-year-old driver of a Skoda attempted to overtake another vehicle around 8:50 AM while navigating a right curve. In doing so, he failed to notice an oncoming Jaguar and collided head-on with it.

Emergency services reported that the Skoda driver sustained severe injuries that proved fatal, and he died at the scene despite immediate medical attention. The 45-year-old driver of the Jaguar was also injured and required hospitalization for treatment.

Local authorities have confirmed that firefighters from Gastewitz and Oschatz, along with emergency medical services and a forensic expert from DEKRA, responded to the scene. The accident resulted in property damage estimated at around EUR35,000. Due to the severity of the incident, the federal highway was closed for several hours while investigations were conducted.

In light of the incident, the police are appealing for eyewitnesses who can provide additional details regarding the circumstances leading to the crash. Specifically, they are seeking information from the driver or passengers of the vehicle that the Skoda was attempting to overtake at the time of the accident.
