Six Injured in Frontal Collision Involving Taxi; Driver Fleeing Scene

Rastede, Niedersachsen - A serious traffic incident occurred on Thursday afternoon on the Oldenburger Landstraße between Rastede and Liethe, resulting in six individuals suffering severe injuries. Among the injured are four teenagers who were passengers in a student taxi that was involved in the accident.

According to police investigations, the taxi was traveling in the direction of Hahn-Lehmden when the driver of a white Seat attempted to overtake another vehicle despite oncoming traffic. In a bid to avoid a collision with the Seat, a 49-year-old driver traveling in the opposite direction swerved to the right, lost control of his car, and collided head-on with the taxi.

Following the crash, the driver of the white Seat did not stop to render assistance and fled the scene. Law enforcement officials are actively searching for this individual. The taxi driver, aged 68, as well as the four teenagers aged between 13 and 15, were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The 49-year-old driver who swerved also sustained severe injuries and was transported to the same medical facility.
