A catastrophic explosion occurred in the southern Iranian port city of Shahid Radschai, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals and injuring over 500 others, many of whom sustained serious injuries. The incident took place in the Hormusgan province, which is home to Iran's largest trade harbor, located approximately 1,000 kilometers south of Tehran, near Bandar Abbas.

Emergency services reported that more than 516 people were injured in the blast, with many being rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical assistance. Local authorities have called for blood donations to aid the critically injured. Officials fear that the death toll may rise as rescue operations continue.

Initial reports indicate that the explosion caused extensive damage to the port's infrastructure, with the shockwave felt as far as 50 kilometers away. The force of the blast severely impacted many of the port's buildings, leading to significant structural damage. As firefighters battled the resulting flames, the head of the port, Ismael Malekisadeh, confirmed efforts to contain the fire.

Although the precise cause of the explosion remains under investigation, Mehrdad Hassansadeh, the head of crisis management, indicated that several shipping containers had exploded. Speculation about a potential sabotage act has circulated on social media; however, no evidence has emerged to substantiate these claims. Authorities have temporarily halted all activities at the port to facilitate the firefighting and rescue efforts.

Shahid Radschai port serves as a crucial economic hub for Iran, accounting for more than a third of the country's maritime trade. The port features the nation's largest container terminal and engages in maritime commerce with 80 internationally recognized ports and 21 shipping lines. As the situation develops, officials are expected to provide more detailed information regarding the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
