Overath - A serious accident occurred on Hohkeppeler Straße involving two motorcyclists, resulting in significant injuries to a 64-year-old man from Cologne. The incident happened on July 13, when the older motorcyclist entered the Heiligenhauser roundabout with the intention of exiting towards Hohkeppeler Straße.

During the maneuver, he failed to notice another motorcycle being operated by a 61-year-old man from Lohmar. This second rider was yielding to a cyclist at a pedestrian crossing at the time of the collision. The two motorcycles collided, causing the Cologne resident to lose control of his vehicle.

Bystanders quickly responded to the scene, providing initial assistance to the injured man. Emergency services arrived shortly thereafter, and he was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Fortunately, the other motorcyclist emerged from the incident unscathed. However, the accident resulted in significant property damage, amounting to several thousand euros, with the damaged motorcycle being towed from the site.

This incident highlights the importance of vigilance while riding and adhering to traffic rules, particularly in busy intersections such as roundabouts. Authorities remind all road users to remain cautious and aware of their surroundings to prevent similar accidents in the future.
