Reward Offered for Information in Prenzlauer Berg Homicide Case

Tue 29th Apr, 2025

In a troubling incident from Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, a severed thigh was discovered in a local park, prompting authorities to suspect a homicide. The Berlin public prosecutor's office has now announced a reward of up to 5,000 euros for any information leading to the identification of those responsible for the crime.

The gruesome find, reported by park visitors, marked a significant development in the case involving 42-year-old Marcel Falk, who was living without permanent housing at the time of his death. Following a thorough DNA analysis, Falk was identified as the victim, and investigators are working diligently to piece together the circumstances surrounding his demise.

Initial investigations revealed that Falk had been missing for some time before the discovery of his remains. The authorities are particularly interested in gathering information about his whereabouts and social connections prior to his death. A previous appeal for witnesses made in March of the previous year yielded no leads, leaving investigators eager for new insights.

Officials are asking the public to come forward with any relevant details regarding Falk's associates or locations he frequented, particularly between February 15 and February 26, 2024. They are also seeking information from anyone who may have observed suspicious activities in the park in the days leading up to the finding of the severed limb on February 27.

The Berlin police have emphasized that the reward is exclusive to individuals from the general public and does not extend to those professionally involved in crime investigation or any individuals connected to the crime.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the 3rd Homicide Commission at Keithstraße 30, via telephone at (030) 4664-911333, or by email at lka113-hinweis@polizei.berlin.de. Tips can also be submitted to any local police station.
