Herzogenrath - A 25-year-old man from the Netherlands was apprehended on Thursday evening during a routine patrol conducted by a joint German-Dutch police unit. The operation took place around 11:30 PM at the former Eurode-Center border crossing.

Upon inspecting the individual's vehicle, officers discovered eight original, sealed perfume bottles, some of which still had anti-theft tags attached. The investigation revealed a series of inconsistent statements regarding the origin of the items.

The suspect initially claimed that the perfumes were a gift, then stated he had purchased them from an unknown person, and ultimately asserted that he had bought them for EUR400 from a retail store. However, given that the retail value of the perfumes is approximately EUR2,500 and the suspect could not provide any purchase receipts or the location of the alleged store, the officers proceeded to confiscate the items.

This incident has raised concerns about the trafficking of stolen goods across borders, highlighting the ongoing collaboration between German and Dutch law enforcement agencies to combat such activities effectively. The 25-year-old is now facing charges of dealing in stolen property.
