Police Issue Warning Following Deadly Shooting in Menden, NRW

Authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia are actively searching for a suspect involved in a fatal shooting incident in the town of Menden. The police have released a photo of the 40-year-old suspect and are urging the public to assist in locating him while advising that he may be armed and should not be approached.

The violent episode unfolded on a Friday night, when a dispute in a residential area escalated, leading to the shooting of two men. One victim, a 45-year-old German man, succumbed to his injuries despite attempts at resuscitation. The second victim, a 49-year-old Turkish man, sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and arm and was airlifted to a specialized medical facility for treatment. As of now, there are no updates on his condition.

Reports indicate that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Despite extensive search efforts, he remains at large as of early Saturday morning.

In connection with the incident, law enforcement officials apprehended a 40-year-old woman at the crime scene, who may have had some involvement in the events leading up to the shooting. The investigation into her role is ongoing.

Details regarding the altercation that preceded the shooting are still emerging. According to preliminary information, the dispute occurred at a construction site near the residence where the incident took place. Witnesses reported that the victims were working as laborers at the site, although official confirmation of this information is pending.
