In a surprising turn of events in Deggendorf, Bavaria, a local pharmacist displayed remarkable composure when confronted by a 35-year-old man wielding a softair gun demanding pain relief medication. The incident occurred on a Friday afternoon, with the pharmacist being 67 years old and an employee present in the store at the time.

The assailant entered the pharmacy and, after a brief exchange with the pharmacist, brandished the softair weapon. According to police reports, he did not aim it at anyone specifically and no customers were in the store during the incident. The man, reportedly under the influence of drugs, demanded methadone, a substance commonly used as a substitute for heroin.

Despite the threatening situation, the pharmacist maintained his calm demeanor. He successfully managed to escort the man out of the pharmacy without any physical confrontation. Authorities later expressed their astonishment at how the pharmacist handled the situation, describing his response as notably collected.

After leaving the pharmacy empty-handed, the suspect fled the scene. Police officers quickly mobilized to search for the individual and eventually located him in a nearby city park. During a subsequent search, officers discovered the softair gun, which did not require a permit. The man confessed to the attempted robbery and was taken into temporary custody. However, he was later released and is now facing charges for making threats.

This incident raises important considerations regarding safety in pharmacies and the increasing prevalence of substance abuse in society. The pharmacist's quick thinking and calm actions likely prevented what could have escalated into a more dangerous situation.
