Pepper Spray Attack on BVG Bus in Berlin Injures Six, Including an Infant

In a troubling incident aboard a BVG bus in Berlin, six individuals were hurt after irritant gas was released, prompting an urgent response from law enforcement. The attack occurred on Thursday afternoon while the bus was en route on line 260, specifically at the Ortolfstraße/Anne-Frank-Straße stop in the Altglienicke district.

According to police reports, five passengers and the bus driver experienced respiratory irritation due to the gas. Authorities quickly identified two juvenile suspects, aged 14 and 16, who fled the scene following the incident.

Among the injured were a 30-year-old woman and her five-year-old son, both of whom required outpatient treatment at a local hospital. Additionally, a seven-month-old infant and the child's 32-year-old mother received immediate assistance at the scene. A 13-year-old girl and the 46-year-old bus driver initially declined medical treatment but the driver later opted to conclude her shift early.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, classifying it as a case of dangerous bodily harm. The unsettling event highlights ongoing concerns regarding safety in public transportation, particularly in major urban areas like Berlin.
