Oststeinbek: Police Detain 19-Year-Old For Prescription Fraud

Fri 4th Apr, 2025

Oststeinbek - Authorities have apprehended a 19-year-old man suspected of attempting to use a forged prescription at a local pharmacy. The incident occurred in the Möllner Landstraße area, where pharmacy staff reported the fraudulent activity to the police, having been forewarned about the rise in counterfeit prescriptions.

The prescription in question was for a diabetes medication that is also known for its weight loss properties. The young man had initially placed an order for the medication over the phone on April 1, 2025, but failed to collect it. On April 3, 2025, around 2:35 PM, he returned to the pharmacy with the intention of picking up the medication using the falsified prescription.

Upon arrival, police officers were called to verify the authenticity of the prescription. Investigations revealed that the patient information listed on the document was non-existent and that no legitimate prescription had been issued by any medical practice. Consequently, the man, who resides in Henstedt-Ulzburg, was temporarily detained by law enforcement.

After completing the necessary police procedures, the suspect was released. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding prescription fraud, particularly related to medications that can be misused for weight loss.
