Óscar Reina: The Persecuted Labor Leader in Spain

In a recent development, Óscar Reina has been re-elected as the General Secretary of the Andalusian Workers' Union (SAT), an organization he describes as the most persecuted labor union in Europe. Currently, around 600 members of SAT are facing legal actions, with fines exceeding one million euros and potential prison sentences totaling more than 400 years. This intense scrutiny stems from the union's practice of occupying unused agricultural lands owned by aristocratic landowners, which they cultivate under a cooperative model aimed at ensuring fair wages.

Reina, who hails from a village in the province of Seville, took the helm of SAT in 2015 at the young age of 25.
