Olympic Dispute Creates Negative Attention
Garmisch-Patenkirchen. The dispute with Olympic opponents have had a negative impact on Munich's application for the Winter Games 2018.
The president of the International Ski Federation (FIS) and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Gianfranco Kaspe, said on German radio on Monday: "One speaks about it at the IOC, it has influence on the IOC to say the least."
At the beginning it hadn't been so bad, "A few farmers were against it, that was normal within an Olympic candidacy, but by now the whole issue has become rather serious."
While reading through Bavarian newspapers he noticed the rejection of the Olympic application from traditional hosts of winter sport games like Oberstdorf, Inzell and Reit, said Kasper. "This could become dangerous for the general consensus."
The FIS president drew attention to the upcoming opinion poll before the Olympic decision on the 6th of July 2011, among it will be inquiries by the IOC. "If it isn't right there, then it will get difficult."
