Analysts suggest that the surge in publicized content from foreign visitors may have led to unwanted scrutiny from the international community. Oh Gyeong-seob, an expert from the Korea Institute for National Unification, proposed that the North Korean regime's concern over potential information leaks might have prompted the closure of its borders. As videos and photographs revealing details about the North Korean society circulated online, the regime likely faced increased criticism, prompting swift action to mitigate any further exposure.

Additionally, reports from some influencers who visited North Korea highlighted the pervasive surveillance they experienced during their stay, as well as the stark poverty present in the country.
