Nissan Introduces Affordable 40-kWh Version of the Interstar-e Electric Van

Mon 14th Apr, 2025

Nissan has launched a cost-effective variant of its electric commercial vehicle, the Interstar-e, now available with a smaller 40-kWh battery. This new option caters to businesses with specific operational needs that do not require extensive driving ranges.

Previously, the Interstar-e was offered exclusively with an 87-kWh battery, providing a range of up to 460 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. This version comes with a starting price of EUR53,380 before taxes. The newly introduced 40-kWh battery option allows companies to save around EUR6,000, making it an appealing choice for urban delivery services where frequent stops and lower average speeds are typical.

The smaller battery version enables a range of approximately 175 kilometers on a full charge, which is adequate for many businesses operating in city environments. The electric motor delivers 96 kW of power, and while the smaller battery limits the maximum charging capacity to 11 kW for alternating current and 50 kW for direct current, it remains competitive with the larger battery's charging capabilities.

Nissan provides the Interstar-e in standard configurations, including various lengths and heights to suit different storage needs. The shorter L2 variant measures 5,685 mm in length, while the longer L3 version reaches 6,315 mm, both standing at 2,498 mm high. The L2H2 model offers a cargo volume of 10.8 cubic meters, whereas the L3H2 can accommodate up to 14.8 cubic meters. Additionally, Nissan offers options for increased weight capacity, allowing for configurations up to 4 tons.

To ensure customer confidence, Nissan Commercial Vehicles provides a five-year warranty covering up to 160,000 kilometers, alongside an eight-year warranty for the battery, also capped at 160,000 kilometers. The new entry-level variant of the Interstar-e is available for order now, enhancing the options for businesses looking to transition to electric transport.
