Helgoland/Bremerhaven - The only high-sea island in Germany is once again easily accessible from the mainland! After a six-year hiatus, regular ferry services to the island in the North Sea have resumed from Bremerhaven. The passenger vessel Fair Lady is now operating trips between the mainland and Helgoland, setting sail every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 9:30 AM from the Seebäderkaje. On its inaugural journey on a sunny Friday morning, the ship welcomed passengers eager to visit the unique island.

The journey to Helgoland takes approximately three hours, covering a distance of nearly 85 kilometers. The ferry can accommodate up to 799 passengers and returns to Bremerhaven at 4 PM the same day. A round-trip ticket costs EUR64. Additionally, on weekdays, the ferry also departs from Wilhelmshaven and Hooksiel, with some sailings originating from the North Sea island of Langeoog.

The Fair Lady last operated between Bremerhaven and Helgoland in 2019. The service was suspended due to the pandemic and subsequent staffing shortages, which affected the ability to operate all vessels. Last year, a catamaran was temporarily utilized for select journeys.

In 2024, Helgoland saw an increase in visitors, with approximately 302,000 guests, both day-trippers and overnight stays, marking a 2.7% rise compared to the previous year. The ferry company hopes to regain the pre-pandemic passenger numbers, which averaged around 60,000 travelers annually.

Helgoland is renowned for its striking cliffs and unique ecology, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and tourists alike. The resurgence of ferry services marks a significant step in revitalizing tourism in the region, offering an accessible escape to this beautiful island.
