Munich must pull the emergency brake
Because the incidence is above the critical value of 100 for the third day in a row, the city of Munich has to tighten the Corona rules. Among other things, a nighttime curfew will apply from Easter Sunday. On Wednesday, Munich had just exceeded the Corona mark of 100: 100.2 was the seven-day incidence. On Thursday, it was according to the Robert Koch Institute at 102.7, on Good Friday now at 104.3. Bavaria-wide, the seven-day incidence is at 140.4.
Saturday is a buffer day, so everything remains the same. Shopping will be possible on Easter Saturday in any case as before. Stores will not be closed until Tuesday. Stores for everyday needs, such as supermarkets, bakeries or pharmacies, will always remain open anyway.
Among the most noticeable restrictions of the emergency brake are the stricter contact rules from Easter Sunday - one household plus one other person - and the curfew from 10 pm to 5 am. In the police headquarters, however, one looks calmly on the Easter weekend. Because it will still be cold in the evening, they do not expect large crowds in the English Garden or at Gärtnerplatz, a spokesman said. Nevertheless, the police will be out with up to 200 additional officers and monitor the Corona rules. If a curfew applies, people will be asked to go home in time, a spokesman had announced: "We will have to report the unteachable."
An emergency brake generally has no effect on meetings, according to the district administration department. The Easter march can therefore take place on Saturday, albeit under the usual Corona restrictions. Querdenker and other critics of Corona politics are also planning rallies again, so far at least 15 are registered for the Easter holidays.
For events on Easter Monday, the administration department (KVR) reports up to 1000 participants are announced for two demonstrations. The KVR has moved all larger "demonstrations against health protection" to the Theresienwiese. In order to keep the risk of infection low before and after the demonstrations, the city has issued a general ordinance requiring everyone to wear a mask to cover their mouth and nose from one hour before and one hour after the demonstrations, on Good Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Easter Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Easter Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
