The Green City and Sports Department in 2010 won the health insurance company AOK as a cooperation partner. This "insurance contribution" will definitely secure 18 Blade Nights this year, says Jörg Senning, who in 1999 started the event in Munich with the city authorities. Since then, Sports Departments head Rudolf Behacker hass also become a big fan of this event.
Record attendance was set in 2001 with 38,000 participants, while the last several years has seen around 10,000 skaters taking part. They are always accompanied by about 200 Blade Guards and the "Sani-Skaters' of the Bavarian Red Cross.
