Man in Critical Condition After Falling While Fleeing from Burglary in Berlin

A man is currently in critical condition following a serious accident that occurred during an alleged burglary in Berlin-Moabit. According to police reports, the incident took place late on a Saturday night when the 44-year-old man reportedly broke into an apartment located in a multi-family residence on Alt-Moabit Street.

Upon entering the bedroom, the intruder encountered the tenant, a 48-year-old man, who was understandably startled and yelled for help. This prompted the alleged burglar to flee the scene, with the tenant giving chase through the stairwell.

Due to low visibility in the poorly lit area, the suspect is believed to have misjudged the steps, leading to a significant fall. Emergency services were alerted by a neighbor who witnessed the aftermath of the incident. Police arrived promptly and arrested the man, who was found in dire need of medical attention.

As a result of the fall, the suspect's condition deteriorated rapidly, and he required resuscitation by paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital for intensive care. Currently, he remains in a life-threatening state.

Authorities have since secured his backpack, which did not contain any stolen items, suggesting that he may have been unprepared for the burglary.
