Kaiserslautern - A resident of Kaiserslautern reported a break-in at his basement on Monday. Unknown perpetrators allegedly gained access to the cellar of a multi-family building located on Gottfried-Kinkel-Straße during the previous week. The discovery was made on Friday morning when the 32-year-old noticed that the padlock on his storage unit had been tampered with and the space had been ransacked.
Initial assessments revealed that the intruders stole beer and wine valued at approximately 100 euros, leaving other items untouched. The victim's handling of the broken lock and subsequent delivery to the police hindered the possibility of collecting forensic evidence from the scene.
Authorities have since issued a reminder for individuals who encounter signs of a break-in to refrain from touching anything at the scene. This precaution is crucial, as it preserves the area for investigators to search for usable evidence.
