Atallah Younes, a 23-year-old influencer, is departing Germany after being convicted for firing a New Year's rocket towards an apartment in Berlin. This incident led to his imprisonment and subsequent trial, where he received a suspended sentence. Before entering the security area at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), Younes expressed his desire to return home to Jordan as swiftly as possible.

Younes indicated that he had learned a significant lesson from his actions, stating that every day brings new lessons. He emphasized that individuals must face the consequences of their actions, using his situation as a cautionary tale for others.

Scheduled to fly to Amman, Younes expressed no feelings of regret regarding the situation. He thanked Germany for his experiences there and mentioned that he would cherish good memories of his time in the country. When asked about the possibility of returning, he replied positively, indicating that he might consider it in the future.

On April 9, the Berlin District Court sentenced Younes to six months of probation for property damage, concluding that there was insufficient evidence for charges of attempted arson or dangerous bodily harm, which the prosecution had initially sought. The court noted the recklessness of Younes's actions but did not impose a monetary fine due to the significant impact on public safety. Additionally, the court cited a video Younes posted on Instagram about the incident as an aggravating factor.

Following the verdict, Younes's legal representative confirmed that he accepted the ruling, while the prosecution has filed an appeal to contest the decision. The outcome of this appeal remains uncertain as the formal written judgment is expected in the coming weeks.

With the court's decision, the arrest warrant against Younes was lifted. He had been detained since January 4 when he attempted to leave Germany and was subsequently held in pre-trial detention. After his release, he stayed with a friend and complied with the authorities as instructed. Now, he is utilizing the opportunity for voluntary departure and will retrieve his passport from the federal police at the airport.

Younes had expressed a desire to reunite with his family as soon as possible after the ruling.
