Altlußheim witnessed a dangerous incident early Monday morning as two vehicles engaged in illegal street racing, prompting a police pursuit that ended in a collision. Around 3 a.m., officers from the Hockenheim police station noticed a BMW and a Renault speeding through Badenwerkstraße. As the police turned to follow, both vehicles accelerated rapidly.

At the intersection with Altlußheimer Straße, the Renault attempted to overtake the BMW, with both cars reaching speeds exceeding 100 km/h. The high-speed chase took a perilous turn when the BMW driver lost control of the vehicle, scraping against a traffic sign before veering into the main street.

In a narrowly avoided collision, the Renault driver had to execute an emergency brake maneuver and subsequently turned into Kurpfalzstraße. The police continued their pursuit of the BMW, which eventually came to a stop in Hildastraße. The driver, a 16-year-old male, attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by the officers.

Upon arrest, he admitted to not possessing a valid driver's license. Further investigations revealed that the Renault was operated by an 18-year-old, who also lacked the necessary driving authorization. The Hockenheim police are actively investigating the incident, focusing on charges related to illegal street racing, driving without a license, endangering public safety, and hit-and-run.

This event highlights ongoing concerns regarding reckless driving and illegal street racing in urban areas, posing significant risks to public safety and the integrity of traffic regulations. Authorities emphasize the importance of responsible driving and adherence to traffic laws to prevent such dangerous activities.
