Human Remains Discovered Following Shark Attack Reports in Israel

Tue 22nd Apr, 2025

Emergency response teams in Israel have uncovered human remains off the Mediterranean coast, following reports of a man being bitten by a shark. The remains were located on the seabed during ongoing search efforts coordinated by local rescue services.

The alarming incident began with a distress call on Monday afternoon, indicating that a man had suffered a shark bite. Despite extensive search operations in the coastal area near Hadera, approximately 50 kilometers north of Tel Aviv, initial attempts to locate the individual were unsuccessful. The search resumed at dawn the following day.

Experts suggest that the region has seen an increase in shark activity due to the presence of warm water being discharged into the sea from a nearby power plant. Between November and May, species such as sandbank and blacktip sharks are known to frequent these waters. While these species are generally not considered dangerous to humans, the exact species involved in this incident remains unclear. Shark attacks are notably rare in Israeli waters.

According to local media reports, the missing individual is a man in his forties from a suburb of Tel Aviv, described as married with four children. Authorities are now working to identify the human remains found during the search.
