Munich. A hot-air balloon piloted by a pensioner made an emergency landing in Südpark in Munich. Thermal conditions of the air space above Sendling made a continuation of the journey impossible.
People walking by the park were shocked and worried when they saw a hot-air balloon landing in the middle of Sendling. Adverse thermal conditions forced the 75 year old pensioner to land his balloon in one of Munich's parks.
According to police, multiple emergency calls were made at 3.10 PM from people watching the landing manoeuvre of the 75 year old. Police and fire brigade attended the scene out but realised soon enough that the senior had everything under control.
The pensioner started his balloon journey with 2 friends, 49 and 50 years old, in Gersthofen close to Augsburg. When the balloon remained motionless in the air space above Sending, he decided to land in the park. "No one was hurt and nothing was damaged" says the police.
The officers checked the man's papers and everything was in order. The 75 year old was free to go, packed his balloon and travelled back to Gerstenhofen.
