Global Outages Affect Elon Musk's X Platform: Users Report Issues

Mon 10th Mar, 2025

Users around the world experienced significant disruptions on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, on Monday morning. Reports of outages began surfacing on various platforms, including the user feedback site 'Allestörungen.de'. Shortly after the initial complaints, the service appeared to stabilize.

At approximately 11 AM, 'Allestörungen.de' registered over 7,000 reports of outages, with nearly half of the users indicating difficulties specifically with the mobile application. Other reports noted issues with the website itself (33%) and server connectivity (18%). The problems were confirmed by independent tests conducted by various sources.

The recent technical difficulties highlight ongoing concerns surrounding the platform since Elon Musk's acquisition in 2022, during which he implemented significant layoffs and operational changes. Critics have pointed to a decline in user experience, citing an increase in harmful content and a perceived decline in the platform's commitment to democratic discourse.

As the platform grapples with these challenges, many former users have expressed dissatisfaction, with some media outlets citing a growing trend of individuals leaving X due to its current state under Musk's leadership. The Hessian Broadcasting Corporation, for example, attributed its departure from the platform to the rise of hate speech and anti-democratic sentiments since the acquisition.

In the wake of these incidents, discussions about the future of social media and its role in public discourse continue to be at the forefront. As users seek alternatives, the impact of Musk's leadership on X remains a topic of significant interest and debate.
