Germany Participates in Second Eurovision Semi-Final Voting

Tue 28th Jan, 2025

Germany is set to engage in the voting process for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest during the second semi-final, as announced by the Swiss media outlet SRF. This event will take place on May 15 in Basel, with Germany's performance in the grand finale being a highlight of the contest. However, early voting is allowed in the semi-finals, allowing German viewers to support their favorite acts ahead of the final.

In the second semi-final, a total of 16 countries will compete, including notable participants such as Austria, Ireland, and Israel. The first semi-final features countries like the Netherlands, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. As one of the primary broadcasting nations, Germany automatically qualifies for the grand finale, alongside four other nations categorized as the 'Big Five'--France, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Spain. Additionally, the previous year's winner, Switzerland, also secures a spot in the finale.

Each of the aforementioned countries is permitted to vote in one of the semi-finals. Meanwhile, 31 other nations will vie for the remaining 20 spots in the grand finale, with semi-final shows scheduled for May 13 and 15. The grand finale will take place at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, located near the German border. The representative for Germany will be decided on March 1.

Tickets for all nine shows will go on sale starting January 29 at 10:00 AM. Only individuals who have pre-registered will be eligible to purchase tickets. Additional ticket sales and a platform for those wishing to resell their tickets will be available at a later date. Prices for the tickets range from 40 to 350 Swiss francs (approximately 37 to 370 euros).
