Funding Secured for Berlin's Children's Circus through Parking Fees

Wed 16th Apr, 2025

In a positive development for the children's circus at Ufa-Fabrik, the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district has agreed to continue funding the program for 2025. This decision comes after the Berlin Senate announced significant budget cuts, resulting in the withdrawal of annual financial support amounting to EUR37,108 as of April 1.

The funding from the district will be sourced from last year's profits generated through parking management. Representatives from all political parties within the district have united in their efforts to ensure the continuation of this beloved children's program, as highlighted in a press release from the Green Party faction.

In 2023, the district assembly passed a resolution stipulating that any profits exceeding one million euros from parking management would be allocated to enhance public spaces and support social initiatives. This decision reflects a commitment to investing in community-oriented projects.

Despite the temporary reprieve, funding for the circus beyond this year is currently uncertain. District officials have stated that sustainable financial support from the Senate must be established for the years following 2025, emphasizing the need for a long-term solution to ensure the circus's viability.

As the community awaits further developments, the Ufa-Fabrik circus continues to serve as a valuable resource for families, providing entertainment and educational opportunities for children in the area.
