Flowers Forever Exhibition: Flowers in Art and Culture

With their splendor and diversity, flowers have always fascinated us. They also have great symbolic power - be it in mythology, religion, art or politics. In earlier centuries, flowers were coveted status symbols, today they are traded globally as a mass product. The flower is currently coming into focus as a component that is as fragile as it is indispensable in the global ecosystem. With objects from art, design, fashion and science, Flowers Forever offers a fascinating, elaborately staged tour through the cultural history of flowers from antiquity to the present day.

The presentation brings together around 170 works from international collections as well as installations created especially for the exhibition. Significant positions in the history of art and design enter into a fruitful dialogue with new artistic approaches to be discovered. The exhibition shows works by Jan Brueghel the Younger, Abraham Mignon, Barbara Regina Dietzsch, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Hannah Höch, Andreas Gursky, Miguel Chevalier, Ann Carrington, Patricia Kaersenhout, Kehinde Wiley, DRIFT and many other artists. They all make it possible to experience the multifaceted cultural history of flowers in an impressive way.
