Sun 9th Mar, 2025

In an unusual incident on Saturday morning, a pot-bellied pig was discovered perched on the roof of a garage in Oldisleben. A local resident noticed the animal, which had managed to climb onto the approximately three-meter-high structure.

Before law enforcement could arrive on the scene, firefighters intervened and successfully rescued the pig from its precarious position. Following its rescue, a veterinary officer examined the animal to ensure its well-being, after which it was relocated to the Gehofen animal shelter for further care.

The circumstances surrounding how the pig ended up on the garage roof remain unclear. Preliminary investigations suggest that an unidentified individual may have brought the animal to the resident's property and left it there. As a result, the police have initiated legal proceedings regarding violations of animal welfare laws and trespassing.

This incident has raised questions about pet ownership and the responsibilities that come with it. The local community is reminded of the importance of ensuring that animals are properly cared for and kept in safe environments.
