In Berlin's Reinickendorf district, authorities are investigating a fatal incident that resulted in the death of a 38-year-old man during a confrontation with five construction workers. The events unfolded on Wednesday morning, leading to chaos and subsequent police involvement.

According to the latest updates from the public prosecutor's office, three individuals have been released from custody while two others are set to appear before a judge. Arrest warrants have been requested for these two suspects based on strong presumptions of involvement in a homicide.

The police and emergency services were dispatched to the Walliser Straße and Huttwiler Weg area at approximately 8 a.m., where they discovered the man unresponsive. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Initially, five workers aged 24, 37, 39, 50, and 57 were taken into custody for questioning. The investigation has since been handed over to the 7th homicide commission. The crime scene was cordoned off for thorough examination.

Witness accounts suggest that the deceased, known to be living in a homeless shelter and having a history of police encounters and drug dependence, allegedly entered a bakery armed with a machete, prompting a violent altercation with the workers. Some reports indicate that the workers intervened to prevent the man from entering a nearby school, leading to a struggle that ultimately resulted in his death.

As investigations continue, two of the detained suspects, aged 24 and 50, are expected to face charges related to the fatal incident. The police are actively gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to piece together the full details surrounding this tragic event.
