Post-renovation: What to expect at the NS Documentation Center?
The NS Documentation Center was inaugurated in May 2015 and closed for a five-month renovation in December 2024. Improvements include enhanced accessibility and safety within the building, as well as new spaces for communication, mediation, and exchange. A new reading café with a shop has been added on the ground floor, along with many new discoveries throughout the center.
Interventions and Video Installations for the Reopening
The reopening will feature the intervention 'Memory is...' which includes over 20 selected objects enhancing the permanent exhibition 'Munich and National Socialism'. These items, both ordinary and extraordinary, tell personal stories and provide new perspectives on the past, accompanied by audio commentaries from witnesses, activists, artists, and scholars that contextualize them and clarify larger connections. (Available until May 10, 2026). The video installation 'overexposed/underexposed' by Mila Zhluktenko and Daniel Asadi Faezi focuses on eight locations in Munich where individuals were killed, injured, or traumatized due to extreme right, racist, and anti-Semitic motives. This work addresses memory, processing, and the relationships between these actions and the Nazi past. Calm images capture each location at the time of the events, creating space for reflection and collective remembrance.
