Was zu verschwinden droht, wird Bild. Mensch - Natur - Kunst
Fascinating and alarming at the same time: everything captured in images no longer exists or has changed from its depicted form. Art often reflects the theme of transience symbolically, serving as a memento mori or a melancholic meditation on the disappearance of things. In our current climate change era, the awareness of our rapidly changing environment has become ubiquitous. A landscape is no longer just a beautiful sight; it is a threatened ecosystem.
This exhibition is constructed around such moments of recognition. It showcases both well-known and rare, previously unseen works from the 19th and 20th centuries by artists including Albrecht Adam, Antoine-Louis Barye, Joseph Beaume, Rosa Marie-Rosalie Bonheur, Heinrich Bürkel, and many more.
