W. A. Mozart ''Don Giovanni''

Reaktorhalle

The fascination with the title character of Mozart's and da Ponte's 1787 premiere masterpiece ''Don Giovanni'' as a ruthless yet charismatic seducer with an unrestrained desire for freedom has remained unbroken for over 200 years. Director Doris Sophia Heinrichsen examines the consequences of Don Giovanni's actions in this year's ''Musiktheater im Reaktor'' production, including issues of rape and murder, and their impact on other characters. With over twenty singing students and in collaboration with the university symphony orchestra and conducting students from HMTM, she explores the dimensions of perpetrator-victim relationships, co-dependencies, and structures of abuse of power in Mozart's late work. The roles will be cast differently on various dates to provide all singing students the opportunity for this important stage practice.
