The Tazers
The Tazers, celebrated as the wizards of South African psych-rock, have their roots in the 1970s while also incorporating modern sounds and structures. This trio delivers an energetic performance that captivates the audience with fuzz sounds, vocal harmonies, and powerful drumming. The current lineup features Jethro Lock (guitar, vocals), Timothy Edwards (drums, vocals), and Werner Jordaan (bass, vocals). Since their inception in 2015, they have been exceptionally active, releasing a total of 5 EPs and 2 albums, earning them recognition as one of South Africa's leading psych-rock bands.
In 2020, they were nominated for "Best Rock Album" at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) and received multiple film awards and nominations for their music video "Plastic Kids." Recently, they have expanded their global fanbase, achieving a milestone of 50,000 monthly listeners on Spotify with the release of their new album "Fantasy Factory." Moreover, one of their hits, "Wake Up," has been streamed over 2 million times on the platform. Their latest single, titled "Fantasy Factory," made it onto Spotify's "ALL NEW ROCK" playlist. The single "Outer Space" has also been played on major public radio stations worldwide, particularly FM4 in Austria and Radio Fritz in Germany.
Although this three-member fuzz band has achieved much over the years, the truth is that The Tazers are just getting started.
