The Sound Of Money
On Friday, May 30, 2025, at 20:00, the Munich Indie underground supergroup, The Sound Of Money, will celebrate the release of their new album, Two: Rhyme On - An Anagrammatical Exorcism of the 70s (BB*Island), at Kulturzentrum Giesinger Bahnhof. This innovative band of six will deconstruct album titles from the 1970s, creatively reassembling them to reveal the truths of that decade, which humorously and sadly laid the foundations for our current absurdity.
In 2017, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love in 1967, The Sound of Money presented their concept album More? WHY NOT! - AN ANAGRAMMATIC EXORCISM OF THE 60S (BB*Island), transforming the titles of 12 beloved records from that era into anagrams and crafting entirely new songs. For example, Pet Sounds became Nude Spots.
Now, just in time for the 50th anniversary of Punk, their latest album features anagrams from iconic artists such as David Bowie, Chic, Nico, Slits, Bob Marley, and Kraftwerk. One example: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars turns into Dr. Dr. Themefart, Frustrating Himself, Posed as Gay Old Nazi SS.
Musically, the album presents a dazzling and grotesque kaleidoscope of classic 70s pop styles, including Agricultural P-Funk, Financial Casino Gospel Disco, Anti-Pogo Post-Punk, and Doubtful Home Computer Dub Jazz, all encapsulating the essence of Bowie in just three and a half minutes.
