Quatuor Ébène
On Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 20:00 to 23:00, the Prinzregententheater in Munich will host a captivating concert by the renowned Quatuor Ébène. The quartet, founded in 1999 by violinist Gabriel Le Magadure at the Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt, has gained acclaim for its diverse repertoire and has won the prestigious ARD Music Competition in 2004.
In response to the heightened urgency for art, music, and beauty due to the COVID-19 pandemic and global conflicts, the quartet brings its charismatic performance style and fresh approach to classical music. They seamlessly blend traditional and contemporary styles, having explored works from Beethoven and Bartók to Piazzolla and Wayne Shorter.
The program for this evening will include:
- Beethoven: String Quartet No. 1 in F major, Op. 18/1
- Raphaël Merlin: String Quartet 'Tetrhappy'
- Tchaikovsky: String Quartet No. 3 in E minor, Op. 30
Quatuor Ébène frequently performs at major international festivals and concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall, Elbphilharmonie, and the Berliner Philharmonie. The quartet holds a special connection to Munich, which they consider a second home, and they look forward to returning to share their music.
