The Dire Straits were a band of superlatives. With Mark Knopfler's distinctive guitar playing and deep voice, they rose from small bar concerts to the biggest stages on the planet in just under a decade. As a counterpoint to the then-popular punk rock, these often struggling ('Dire Straits') musicians initially led a short-lived niche existence. However, they quickly became one of the most renowned and successful bands in music history, selling over 120 million records throughout their career.

They achieved their breakthrough in the late 1970s with 'Sultans of Swing,' putting Mark Knopfler at the forefront as a singer, composer, and especially as a guitarist. The band reached its zenith in the mid-80s with the hit 'Money For Nothing,' a collaboration with fellow Geordie Sting. However, the immense success and pressure took a toll on the musicians. After their final album 'On Every Street' (38x Platinum worldwide) and the accompanying world tour from 1991-1992, which included 229 concerts, Mark Knopfler announced in 1995 that the band would be inactive and would no longer perform public concerts.

This final phase is now celebrated 30 years later in the tribute show 'One Night of Dire Straits.' Guitarist and singer Alex Moll, along with his exquisitely composed band of live and studio musicians, takes the audience on a journey full of fascinating, handcrafted music.
