Nicole Giesa ,,Lonesome Astronaut "
On Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the iconic astronaut continues his journey with the exhibition titled LONESOME ASTRONAUT. This exhibition by Nicole Giesa presents a personal journey captured through photographs, highlighting the paradox of increasing loneliness in an ever-connected world. Since 2021, Giesa has used the LONESOME ASTRONAUT series to depict themes of perception versus reality, belonging versus isolation, and intimacy versus distance. Selected works from this series will be on display at Oberpollinger, showcasing a blend of everyday observation and subtle metaphor.
The initial images were featured in 2022 at the Glyptothek in Königsplatz, followed by international group exhibitions and solo shows, including at the Münchner Künstlerhaus at Lenbachplatz and Barlach Halle K in Hamburg. The iconic astronaut also served as the narrative conclusion for the exhibition "Metaphor to Metamorphosis" at Galerie König in Kunstkraftwerk Bergson. This presentation at Oberpollinger is in collaboration with curator Ánh Nguyen, who previously led the König Bergson gallery.
The exhibition runs from January 15 to March 2, 2026, on the 4th floor of Oberpollinger. Admission is free.
