Munich Classical Players
Join us for an enchanting evening of classical music on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 20:00 at the Schafhof - European Art Forum Obb in Freising. The Munich Classical Players, a chamber orchestra founded in 2016 and led by conductor Maximilian Leinekugel, will be performing remarkable works by Dvorák and Wagner.
This year's program features two masterpieces for chamber orchestra from the 1870s: Richard Wagner's Siegfried-Idyll, composed in 1870, and Antonín Dvorák's Serenade for Strings, created five years later. Wagner's Siegfried-Idyll, originally written as a birthday serenade for his wife Cosima, incorporates motifs from his larger music drama Siegfried. Despite the smaller orchestration compared to the opera, it showcases Wagner's masterful instrumentation.
Dvorák's Serenade for Strings unfolds rich Bohemian melodies, reflecting the composer's joyous spirit. In contrast to these romantic works, the concert will also feature the world premiere of Jakob Suermann's Fug und Bruch, which earned him a special prize at the 2024 Youth Composed Bavaria competition.
The Munich Classical Players strive to make classical music accessible to everyone, performing not only in conventional concert halls but also in various venues in Munich and Bavaria. This is their third performance in Freising, following successful concerts in 2022 and 2023, and they continue to inspire audiences with innovative programming.
