Mathias Lachenmayr, a drummer in the ensemble der/gelbe/klang, has long been fascinated by the music and work of Josef Anton Riedl (1927-2016). Riedl's radical approach allows for an immense variety of interpretations, which captivates Lachenmayr. Most of Riedl's works are neither published nor archived digitally. The knowledge of the performance practice developed during Riedl's lifetime is not documented and risks being lost. To address this, Lachenmayr is reaching out to musicians from Riedl's generation to explore and preserve aspects of this performance practice. He aims to create a living continuation of Riedl's music, combining it with the premieres of two commissioned works.
