MIGRA Migrantin der Identität

Kulturzentrum Giesinger Bahnhof
Join us for an interdisciplinary performance that weaves together trans-traditional music, poetry, and dance. This unique journey explores two symbolic worlds: the familiar homeland and the unknown new. It captures the emotions of loss, fear, joy, and hope, creating a universal narrative about migrant women and their identities. How does migration shape a woman's image, self-perception, and relationships? Three artists with migration backgrounds - Monica Sardi (singer), Roberta Ragonese (dancer and poet), and Eleanna Pitsikaki (kanun player and music composer) - bring to life the faces, bodies, voices, and personalities of various female migrant identities on stage. Through masterfully arranged pieces for kanun, including works by Monteverdi, Brahms, and tangos, alongside original poetry, autobiographical stories, and expressive dance, a collage of invented characters unfolds. These women navigate cultures, expectations, and dreams, revealing the depth of female identity and inviting reflection on belonging and transformation. They share their similarities and differences with us, reflecting the complexity of the existence of female migrants. It is a dialogue of emotions, a bridge that connects us all.
