Königsklasse: ,,Könnt ihr noch?" - Kunst und Demokratie
This summer exhibition, curated by Verena Hein and Oliver Kase, showcases over 50 artworks by notable artists such as Francis Bacon, Georg Baselitz, Max Beckmann, Joseph Beuys, Sheila Hicks, Asger Jorn, Anselm Kiefer, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Maria Lassnig, Inge Mahn, Henry Moore, A.R. Penck, Pablo Picasso, Judith Reigl, Gerhard Richter, Rosemarie Trockel, and Andy Warhol, among others. The exhibition addresses democratic core values such as freedom, self-determination, and human dignity through their works.
Masterpieces from the Bavarian State Painting Collections, ranging from Classical Modernism to the present, will be displayed alongside site-specific works. The exhibition is linked to the Constitutional Convention that took place in Herrenchiemsee in August 1948, which laid the foundation for the German Constitution. An additional exhibition in the Old Castle titled 'Der Wille zu Freiheit und Demokratie' is dedicated to this historical event.
