In der Welt unterwegs - Die Künstlerkolonie Solingen
Join us for an exhibition that takes you on a journey around the world through the eyes of three distinct artists connected by their experiences in the artists' colony of Solingen. From Erwin Bowien (1899-1972) to Bettina Heinen-Ayech (1937-2020) and Amud Uwe Millies (1932-2008), explore their captivating paintings that depict landscapes, cities, and street scenes from places like Venice, Trondheim, and Luxor. These views often reflect a reality that has changed over time, rooted in their beginnings at the 'Schwarze Haus' in Solingen--a meeting point for creatives since the 1920s. Despite the shift towards abstraction in the art world, these artists embraced figurative painting, drawing inspiration from plein air painting traditions and artist colonies of the turn of the century. The exhibition also showcases impressions of involuntary travels and refugee experiences, adding depth to their narratives. Experience a world tour through the eyes of these interconnected artists.
Additionally, there will be various accompanying events, including a reading by Oliver Fischer from his book 'Man kann die Liebe nicht stärker erleben - Thomas Mann und Paul Ehrenberg', theater performances, and a 'Feier-Kunst-Abend'. For more details, visit www.dachauer-galerien-museen.de.
