Hallo, mein Name ist Kunstbau
Hello, my name is Kunstbau. I am a space with many possibilities. You already know me as an exhibition space? Now I am trying something new and will become an experiment. Is this an exhibition? Perhaps. But without ready answers. What happens here evolves through collective action, research, and creation. The space is constantly changing because we use it together, experiment, and rethink.
Together with artists, mediators, collectives, visitors, associations, and initiatives, we as a museum develop new ideas. Everyone brings their own themes and working methods, speaking for themselves. At the same time, we collaborate on concepts for the museum, picking up impulses and responding to one another.
Working with and on this space means for us: inviting, bringing together, and accompanying. We create a framework where different perspectives are possible. This also means that we respond to developments and do not plan everything in advance. Many concepts emerge in the process - with the space and the participants.
What makes a museum inviting for different people? How can we share knowledge? What do the spaces look like where we meet, exchange, and start creating?
Together with you, we will build, read, stroll, and discover. We will experiment, change, discuss, write, make music, invent, reflect, and discard. We will drink coffee, play, dance, practice, explore, tell stories, and relax. We will sleep, improvise, create, and come together. What ideas have we not yet thought of that a museum needs?
After these weeks in Kunstbau, we will redesign the mediation spaces in Lenbachhaus. What happens here in Kunstbau is understood as a test. We will see what works, what is missing, and what remains. The space will change over time. We will document experiences to further develop them and take them into the museum long term.
You can participate in workshops or try things independently at individual stations. Bring friends, meet for a drink, or just drop by to rest and look around.
