Join us on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 14:00 to 18:00 at the Amerikahaus, located at Karolinenplatz 3, 80333 Munich, for the exhibition 'Ein Haus ohne Mauern bauen'. This exhibition is a research and exhibition project focused on Munich after 1945, developed in collaboration with various Munich archives, including the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Munich Archive, the Munich Workers' Movement Archive, the German Museum Archive, the IFZ Archive, the Main State Archive, the Forum Queeres Archiv e.V., the Von Parish Costume Library, the City Archive, and the State Archive of Munich, as well as the TUM Archive.

This exhibition is part of the program by the City of Munich commemorating 80 years since the end of the war, titled 'Stunde Null - wie wir wurden, was wir sind'. It features works from nine artists: Hêlîn Alas, Ina Ettlinger, Dani Gal, Thomas Galler, Mariella Maier, Cora Piantoni, Beo Tomek & Caroline Kapp, and Christoph Westermeier, who have researched Munich's post-1945 history through archives. Their perspectives on photographs, protocols, magazines, and eyewitness accounts provide diverse insights into the architectural and societal reconstruction of the city.

The exhibition brings to life the significance of the post-war period in our present day, addressing themes such as women's lives, new places of gathering, the emergence of authorities, and educational concepts of reeducation through installations, films, photo series, and collages.
